Marley's Bubbles

For the first time today Marley started to blow bubbles. For about an hour he was having a full on conversation with me, consisting of cooing , grunts and bubbles. It was hillarious! Granted I had to change him from all of the drool.....it was priceless. He makes me laugh everyday ......... 4 1/2 months, he is growing too fast!

Last nite Marley had the roughest time sleeping because of his  teething and......wait for it. BBBRRRTTT Brrrtt......GAS!  Ahmed and I look each and ask "was that you?" followed by ....."Oh My goodness Marley, you smell like a grown man"! I don't know what it is. My diet? I have no idea. I roll him on his side and he just goes for it, and laughs. It is very funny, but somewhere along the line we have to teach him to be a little more discreet. 

My baby boy is growing so fast I feel like everyweek he is reaching a new milestone. He continues to grow more alert, he is mimicking sounds and his reactions are becoming a long list of facial reactions that makes me so proud! So it is making it very easy to communicate with Master Marley. (that's and old english was to address little boys). He doesn't like any particular teething toy, he actually likes to just grab my finger and chew on it. So, you know right about now I am totally obsessed with washing my hands. But I mostly encourage him to chew on a cloth or his hand. He is complete self soothing. My Boy!!!!!  Marley is also very easily distract...... sounds like someone I know. lol. Even in his discomfort he can laugh and coo and long as lond as  you give him love. Some of the things he is doing.... holding up his head strong, grabbing and pulling his mobiles off of their support, with my help sitting up and standing up, rolling onto his side, splishing and splashing in his bath, and today he reached for me! (He makes me feel so loved)

We've started our nightly ritual of story time a month ago. Marely in his PJ's, dim lights and his choice from his library ;) ......he gets so excited looking at the illustrations. He waves his hands and his breath gets heavy and he just goes crazy. Ahhhhhh I love it. Reading is fundemental. Oh....and I am looking into that DVD program "Your Baby can Read" . I will keep you updated, I think I am going to start in a month. It's pretty unbelievable.

Growing Fast!

At 4months Marley weighed in at 17.5 lbs and 25inches long. He is healthy and alert. He posses loads of personality and loves to cuddle with mommy. He is growing so fast, I cannot beleive the rate at which he is beginning to discover new things, see objects, hear new sounds......and his motor skills! He is grabbing things, pushing up with his legs, using his core to sit up....he never seases to amaze me! I am so proud. The most recent thing that Marley is dealing with is Teething, but I have to say he has been a trooper. He soothes himself by chewing on his hand, or his burp cloth. We have discovered these homeopathic teething tablets which are amazing. They almost work instantly. So, I highly reccommend it for any infant. He is sleeping soundly as I blog. :)

Marley has also become quite the social butterfly! He is so personable, he actually impresses me! Something about this baby boy that breathes life into a room, put a smile on the grumpiest face on the street, and makes grown men coo! I think Marley should run for President! lol

So far, Marley flew to NYC for Mothers day week. He has been in 3 of my friend short films, dined at restaurants, hiked with us at Griffifth park, attended a Reggae festival at UCLA and most recently attended an engagement party! He has more play dates with my friends than I do...... And he loves it.  I love my friends and fam. xoxoox

One of the Best Weeks Ever!

  

  

 

Last week I flew to NYC for a job that perfectly fell on the same week as Mothers Day. The only thing that would have made it more perfect is if Ahmed could have come with me. Nonetheless, It was fantastic! It was my first real gig that I booked since Marley was born. And it was an opportunity to see my freinds and family whom I miss so much! It was so great to introduce Marley to my brother Delvin and his fiance Tiffany. Marley met his cousin Simon & Aram for the first time, His great-grandmother Nana Best, Great-grandfather Grandpa Cannonier, his great uncle Tony, my dear friends, my best freind and their children. And finally, a great re-visit with his grandparents Grandmommie, Mahmondyla & Babu!

What made this trip even more special for me was that I got to spend my first Mothers Day with my Mommy and Her first Mother's day as a Grandmommie!! I'm telling you....this trip was devine intervention. It was such a life lesson, to have my mom's support in what I am, and what I do , and loving me unconditionally and loving Marley even more. I could not have taken this job with out her help and she was just selfless and generous, and still managed to spoil me and Marley at the same time. 

I just hope that I am at least half the Mom she is......cause Mom you did a great job with me and Delvin. Happy Mothers Day.....everyday. :)

Action's Speak Best!

Baby's Update: Today Marley had a routine doctors appointment and he was fantastic. He is 11 1/2 weeks, 15pds and 11oz. He is alert. Looking at his reflection. lifting his neck. Laughing. Growing at a great rate according to those charts and had his first shot ......happened so fast Ahmed and Marley missed it, as we both braced for it! LOL

What an amazing couple of weeks I have had watching my son grow into this amazing personality. At almost 12 weeks, he understands FUNNY! I go way overboard with the funny faces and sounds at the expence of looking and sounding like a crazy person. When I'm on. I'm on. But when I'm not funny .......his dead pan look, makes me laugh! 

He wakes up in a great mood every morning. Who does that?....Marley Best! He coo's and smiles. He is so cool. Sometimes I'd wake up and he is just looking around the room, checking out his surroundings. I can see his brain just soaking in everything.

Every Sunday I try to go the farmers market. It's a great family outing. Its healthier and cheaper (sometimes) than the supermarket. And Marley gets to see colors, and objects, and people......it is so cool to see the world through his eyes. It's so exciting.

One new thing I notice is that he is hugging my neck! I can actually feel his little hands grabbing on me.....and it feels so good.  It is so wierd how "actions speak louder than words" I feel how much he trust me. He know's who I am! Complete,focused and intense energy clearly towards me! Marley is very much a people person, but when he lays those eyes on me .......I see the light in his eye's illuminate.... I melt.

You're next Auntie Liss & Uncle Ivan! :)  Marley had so much fun with you...you are going to be amazing parents. Thanks for the Visit. And you look so Pretty!

Mama's Boy

It has been 2 months....... And everyday I fall in love with my baby boy. My heart just fills up with so much understanding, empathy, compassion, admiration, love, love, love. I want to cry sometimes when he looks at me and smiles and coo's ....... I could watch him sleep around the clock. I wish I could experience the sweet dreams he has almost everyday. Once he is in a deep sleep, he smiles and then he chuckles into belly laughs. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. He leaves me paralyzed in astonishment when he imitates my voice or inflections. He is so proud! I could see it in his face. The funny thing is, I hear him and understand exactly what he is talking about. He makes me realize what is really important, what is truly a priority. I don't mean loosing myself, what I do or abandoning my needs. But he makes me realize I am not what I do, I am who I am. And I love the person I am with him. He is truly making me want to be the best I can be, for me , for him, for all of us. I just hope he feels the same way about me and his daddy when he gets older....... awe man......does he really have to get older. :) Just kidding. I am looking forward to this chapter. Best Boys
