The Best Treat!!!

This is my favorite picture of Marley, captured by Mahmondylla!

This past week we had the pleasure of having my in-laws....Marley's grandparents (The Bests'), lovingly known as Mahmondylla and Babu visit us in Los Angeles. Marley turned 7 weeks on Saturday and he has already had a tremendous growth spurt and a huge leap in his development.  He started to lock eyes and smile. He is mimicking sounds and having a full on conversations. He is discovering his hands, feet and tongue. He is just an amazing baby boy. And it was such a joy to watch him with his grandparents, he was so alert and seem to be doing something new everyday. All four of us would sometimes find ourselves just staring at him. Watching him smile in his sleep and sometimes he would  have a dream and just start chuckling....and I mean a very hearty belly laugh in his sleep. It is scary. :) What could he be dreaming about?
Anyways, as a new parent, I am always grateful for the advice and help of experienced parents. I am appreciative of the extra hands, especially when it gave Ahmed and I a couple of evenings to sneak out for a couple of hours, or take a shower, or take a nap! And most importantly ......not to make this about me, but thank you for helping me. And thank you for all the love you showered our family with. We love you.
I forgot to mention this......before in-laws visited, my sister in-law came out to see Marley. It was such a sweet visit. Thank you Dunia. Marley digs his Auntie. :)

Marley's Day in the Park

This past Tuesday, I decided to take Marley to the Barnsdale Park, which is a 10 minute walk from our house. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear and the sun was shining. This was actually Marley's first time feeling the sun directly against his skin and the cool breeze in his eyes. He was so cute, his eyes were blinking so fast he didn't know what was happening!! ;)
I have to say that  I think I am one of those "Mom's" I have been very cautious with Marley.....It is hard for me to leave the house with out bundling him up. I constantly have to remind myself that I live on the West Coast and winters are just cool. Nonetheless, I am still paranoid that some horrible air borne disease will make him sick. I know, I just need to relax!....I know.
But really, would it be horrible if I wore a fashionable necklace that had a cute bottle of Anti-bacterial gel hanging from it or wore a shirt that said "wash your hands before you touch my baby or I will hurt you"? lol

Goodmorning!!!!!!!

Mornings are just not the same.......they're Better!!!

Daddy on Nite Duty

I'm sure everyone could imagine how demanding breastfeeding can be, especially when you have to meet the demands of your baby every 2-3 hours. Between those feedings you have to change the diapers, in which Marley's name turns into "my little stinky poo poo". lol
In between you have to grab as many Z's as you can get.  Sometimes I feel like I just blinked my eyes and I was doing it all over again. But then there are some nites when this angel whispers "sleep baby" I'll get Marley or I'll give him a bottle (which was pumped earlier) or I'll change him. Just to give me 4 consecutive hours of sleep. Ooooo.......that is heaven! Ahmed......Thank you. I love you and appreciate you! P.S I know you hate these pictures......but I am just keeping it real.....newborns give you the CRAZED look!  :)

Hello My name is Marley Ellington Horsford Best!

We are no longer hosting BabyBestComingSoon.blogspot.com. Because he's here!!!! [IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD MARLEY'S BIRTH STORY its the last entry in www.babybestcomingsoon.blogspot.com] We are glad and overjoyed to have him in our lives. Ahmed and I  would also just like to take this opportunity to say (if we haven't already) "Thank you" again to everyone for your kindness!   Marley has received such a great welcome into this world  and we have had such fantastic support! Thanks for all of your acts of kindness which ranged from a homemade dinners, flowers, baked goodies, groceries, visits, etc. I would also like to thank my Mom for helping us for 5 weeks! Thank you for your generosity and love, you have helped tremendously with our transition into parenting!  I cannot tell you how much you've helped....Marley misses his Grandmommie for sure. We are also looking forward to Mahmondyla and Baba to visit soon.... ;) We know our days of being spoiled due to Marley's arrival are numbered! (laugh)

For those of you whose had the delightful pleasure of meeting Marley. He is such a loving baby. He just wants to be held and kissed! He is a growing boy....he eats every 2-3hours. As soon as he finishes he gets Milk Drunk....(I call him Milk Drunkie) he literally has a dazed look in his eyes and konks out! It is the cutest thing.  He loves taking baths! Which is one of my favorite things to watch.  He sneezes 5 times in a row...almost every time! And just has the biggest eyes......he's dangerous ladies! :)

Ahmed and I have had many sleepless nights between feedings, changing's, baby discomfort, etc.  But when he is feeling comfortable....its so worth his smile. Which he did for the first time today!!!!! I almost cried.
